OP here. This is actually already on her contract, pretty similar to what you have, so she bombed on providing required notice. Major change like new nanny is not where I want to go at the moment, though when she returns from vacation we will be having a sit down about job expectations.

In the meantime, I've negotiated a plan for the week in January that will involve very early work hours for me so that I ca get in most of a work day before 11:30am, then head off to retrieve my children. I'm considering it good practice for an early morning workout routine that I really need to resume anyway!

OP here. No, this is one area where I am seriously on top of things: EVERYTHING goes on the calendar. The minute I get information about potential vacation dates I block off all of the days (e.g., if she said "sometime in the first week of January" I would block entire week, just to be sure it is covered. Easier to release time block than to scramble at last minute). She gave me her dates, then didn't update me when her plans changed.

To others offering positive words for my performance review this morning: it's over, and I'm happy to report I will remain gainfully employed! (Good review overall. Yay for that!)

I also had a super easy commute this morning with surprisingly minimal traffic, no one was crying at home before I left this morning, and not a single work crisis has emerged since about 4pm yesterday. I'll take the "above water" moments wherever I can get them!
