At thirteen he is closer to dating and sex than he is to diapers. I think by thirteen he should be old enough not to be tricked into eating ham by sneaky grandpa and also old enough to choose what to eat. Perhaps your son has different ideas on diet than you?

Growing up, we always had pork in our greens on the last night of Kwanzaa. The last year I celebrated it, my aunt switched to smoke turkey wings because she doesn't really live us anymore.
Can you do an AMA on Kwanzaa? I'm very curious about this holiday and have never met anyone who celebrated.

It's a contrived "holiday." Not even Al Sharpton celebrates it, although Marion Barry used to bedeck himself in Kente cloth.
This is what I've read. Kwanzaa is entirely and American invention starting in the 1960s. The guy who founded Kwanzaa went to prison for torturing a woman a few years later.
