It's the same at public school parent events. Has nothing to do with Catholicism.

No, there is no alcohol at my child's Catholic school at back to school night. I would find that ridiculous. Fall festival? yes. The annual auction? yes. But not back to school night. Give me a break.

There is no more drinking at my child's school events than there is at my work events - and significantly less than at my husband's work events. I can't tell you the last time I attended any "dry" social event actually.

But I rarely drink alcohol anyway so it doesn't bother me one way or another.

I get what you are saying. I grew up Catholic and at one point looked at Little Flower in Bethesda for my child. The attitude towards alcohol really turned me off (
one of the moms indicated that during many of the events parents hung in the back drinking). I have a lot of alcoholics in our family's history and I try to stay away. I knew our family wouldn't' fit in and that ultimately would affect my child. I'm not trying to pass judgement on parents who have different values than myself. If it works for them and they are happy, good for them!

No doubt PP is the one who started the other thread about the teacher that was caught with pot. Not sure what PP is trying to accomplish here. Now that the Catholic school has been cleaned up regarding sex scandals, the bashers are looking for something. They should take a look at other privates and publics that are struggling with MUCH bigger problems.

One time a teacher was at the school during the weekend on his own time doing some internet wiring and the principal found some empty beer cans in a garbage can. He was canned. Didn't seem very Christian to me.

It doesn't matter if the thread was started by a troll or not. Who is offended? Most of us Catholics who have replied have done so in the affirmative, saying "yes, you'll find some Catholics do drink a LOT"

What? I think you're a troll. We've been at two Catholics schools and the drinking for parents and students was out of control. Way out of control. There was drinking at back-to-school night in the library (bottles of wine everywhere); drinking at home parties; drinking at all school events. And some very tragic events.

It depends on what kind of Protestant. We live in Europe now, and yes, British COE members do drink like fish, but they are without equal in drinking habits when compared with other types of Protestants from other countries. Catholics drink a lot no matter where they live, though.
