Since these data can now be compared to other states that used PARCC, does anyone have leads as to how DC is doing in comparison?

Thanks so much. Realized after typing that I meant the overall percent of FARM students at each school, but that data wasn't included in this release, that would have to be pulled for each school individually, from equity reports and school profiles.

But that list shows that if your concern is getting poorer kids doing better on tests, DC Prep and KIPP know what they are doing.

Yes, DC Prep Edgewood results are especially impressive.

There are 5 levels on PARCC - 5 being the best. DC has chosen a benchmark of all students getting level 4 or 5. So the % is the number of students who scored 4 or above. You can also tell from the spreadsheets how many scored 3 or above, or level 1 or 2.

Actually, all of these schools have fewer than 25 economically disadvantage, which is pretty surprising given the size of many of them...

Do special ed kids take the PARCC and are the scores factored in?

Can someone explain what "% at level selected" means? There are a number of schools that only had 25, 40, 50 kids tested. Wouldn't one or two kids doing really well (or really poorly) completely skew things?

And I'd love to see some critical discussion about the tests themselves. Are these tests measuring the correct things? Should third graders be evaluated on comprehension with a keyboard based test? And, what do these scores say about the education any individual child is receiving?

+1. Agree 100%. Especially when one is not considering the makeup of the school (% of low income, special ed etc).
