If it's cooler/cold out or once they start crawling, they need to wear some pants. What's even better than a onesie in the summer, though is a one piece short sleeve/short pant romper, which is looser fitting/ more breathable than a onesie

Another day, another example of how I am not (as I had previously thought) a moderate conformist but rather a crazed transgressive radical. This time it's because my babies went out in just onesies in the summer. The things I learn from DCUM!

When babies are young enough to be in onesies, pants are just a fashion accessory. We use pants when we take her out, but only because the outfit looks cuter that way, not out of any need.

From about 6 weeks on, I fully dressed my kids. Not including shoes. However, they never wore just a onesie. Ever.

I had one summer baby and one winter baby. For clothing in the first few months, the summer baby spent a lot of time in a onesie and nothing else, esp. a day we were just at home. If we were going on an outing more than just the grocery store, then he'd generally be wearing a romper.

Winter baby was never in just a onesie because it was too cold. She was always in footy pjs. But, just like the onesie, we had some plain/in the house ones and nicer ones for other times.

Neither ever wore shoes. If it was cold enough that feet needed to be covered, then they were in an foot-covering piece of clothing. I think shoes look ridiculous on little babies and socks always come off.

My kids were all tiny babies in cold weather, so I dressed them in footed jammies for the first couple months. I feel like a onesie is the warm weather equivalent for newborns. Not really a full outfit, but totally appropriate for a newborn.

Its too cold for just a onesie.

For my first, I always put him on pants - he was born in January. I always swore I would never take my kids out in onesies.

My second was born in June and was (and still is) a furnace. So yes, I would take him out sometimes in just a onesie. My mom was here once and was scandalized that I told her to not bother with any pants. So she got him fully dressed in a "weather appropriate" outfit to take him to the store. In the 10 minutes it took to get to the store, he was screaming bloody murder, he was drenched with sweat and she basically had to undress him, wipe him off, and dress him in the dry onesie that was in the diaper bag.

I no longer judge people on stuff like that. So if you say it's your baby's outfit, it is your baby's outfit.

A onesie is fine in the summer for a baby younger than six months.

In November, or once the baby is crawling, he or she needs some pants.

And I find it weird when people put shoes on babies. My summer babies often wore just onesies leaving the house. If we were going somewhere a little nicer than a walk or the grocery store, I would go for a romper or a dress

Op here. I'm always kind of impressed with moms like this. I'm totally lazy about this, AND LO is so squirmy.

I'm not impressed with nonsense. Shoes on a newborn are silly. Just more ways to waste your cash.

Every parent should have onesies on their babies now, and undershirts on older children when they start potty training. It's cold out there. I cringe when I see bare little backs at the park in the cold.

I did bodysuits only. It's cuter that way - why hide the chunky baby thighs?

I am absolutely cackling that some of you think it's indecent to take your baby out in "just" a onesie. You are type A loonies that I want to avoid like the plague.

So please, please share this opinion in real life so I know to avoid you nutjobs.
