I think you are pretty sick for judging the parents when you don't even know them. The parents started the channel because the kids wanted it. The parents recorded and uploaded the videos for the kids, not to exploit them. I'm pretty sure that when they started posting videos they weren't doing it with a goal to get famous.

My son begs me to start a channel like that but I won't do it because I am more of a private person than that. I do allow him to upload his own videos though and he loves it. Do you have facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other social media accounts? If so, do you upload family pictures on your account? If so, you are no different than this family. You are taking the same risk at becoming "famous" by doing this as they did when they started uploading videos.

The majority of the viewers of these YouTube channels with family vlogs are children. You must have a lot of negativity in your life to have thoughts like this about a family who just lost their only son! I hope things improve in your life soon. I mean that sincerely.

According to a statement released by Anne Arundel police, emergency responders found Caleb "suffering from an unknown medical emergency" at the family’s home on Oct. 1. Then, he was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead."

Wow. Lots of kids get into posting videos of themselves on youtube. For whatever reason, this family's videos gained a real level of popularity with their fans that most do not.

It looks as though they were getting trips out of it, a certain amount of fame and now this horrible tragedy has befallen them. It's sad.

I saw this on Insta over the weekend and figured it was a hoax.

They lived in a McMansion in Severna Park (AA County). Exploiting theire kids helped pay for the house I suppose.

Don't judge, they just lost their only son, be kind. They had millions of viewers and because this is an actual news story, people are talking about it. This is how they are dealing with it. You don't know who is actually posting the videos for them either. I post videos on YouTube for my family members not on my channel.

I agree PP, mourning over social media is weird. (But I also think posting videos of your family on youtube weird.) It feels very artificial like when tv or movies actors tweet about the death of a fellow actor. These seem as heartfelt as old yearbook chestnuts, "2 good 2 B 4gotten."

It is sad, and yes, the family and the fan base will want to mourn in their own way using social media, but it really isn't "news." It's a personal family tragedy and a social media phenomenon.

My childhood best friend died in her sleep at age 12; the autopsy concluded that she had a previously undetected heart condition. My mother was an elementary school teacher for almost 40 years & during that time 2 of her former students died very suddenly, also of undetected heart conditions, when they were in middle school. One collapsed while running around the track during PE & the other while walking home from school.

I had a friend in middle school who died suddenly at 14 from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. She was playing soccer and just died -- too suddenly for even the paramedics who arrived to save her.

It's totally not out of the realm of possibility he had an underlying heart condition or a stroke. It's tragic but it does happen.

I didn't know of them until now, and I don't quite get it. Their videos seem very long (20 minutes or more) and just of boring, everyday family life.
