It is a health issue and the OB is her doctor. They are there to advise you about anything related to your pregnancy, from caffeine intake to exercise to TDAP boosters, and being bit by a dog is a health issue. Period.

I can't believe the ER didn't call animal control. If I knew you, I would be calling DSS. You are allowing a dangerous animal around a defenseless toddler. Insanity.

Exsctly. If you you had to go to the ER, I think your vote should count 80%.

Stop referring to it as killing your dog. Your dog sounds horribly miserable and uncomfortable and probably in pain, and you would be putting him out of his misery.

I think you need a new vet, too. If they can't diagnose your dog after this much time, the vet should refer you to a specialist, just like a human doctor would.

I'd wean the dog off the steroids and see if he is better. Steroids have a lot of negative side effects for dogs. If the dog isn't better, he needs to be put down. You had to go the ER. Aggressive dogs have been known to kill small children and babies. This is a serious safety issue for your family.

Call your OB and call your pediatrician too. You and your toddler need a bigger voice in this.

Your husband is flat out insane. How can any adult man prioritize a pet over his pregnant wife and children? That dog needs to be out of the house yesterday. It's negligence or even child endangerment to keep an animal that has attacked two of you already. The two of you are risking your children and anyone who comes to your home or encounters your dog anywhere else.

And this nonsense about you only having a 50 percent vote - understand that deferring to your husband's preferences on this makes you equally responsible for whomever the dog hurts next.

So you are saying you sat there 8 months pregnant with a toddler and told the vet you went to the ER from your dog attacking you (not to mention attacking DH) and they told you they didn't have room in their facility for boarding?

No, just no.

I would do it talk to my OB. There is no OB Gyn on earth who is going to okay their patient having an aggressive biting dog. Call the office today and explain the situation, have them explain the risks to you and your baby if you were to get an infection as a PP pointed out. Relay to your husband or have a him on speaker. The OB will most likely suggest you stay away from the dog and have your DH do all the work, like they do with changing a cats litter box. And this is a do that could snap it's teeth around your jugular.

The dog needs to be out of the house. If you had to go to the ER, the dog needs to go. Maybe temporarily, maybe permanently. If your DH feels differently, he can find a temporary place to live and take the dog.

Too early to consider Euthanasia?? The dog could KILL your child. I know that it's not his nature, that he's sick and otherwise he wouldn't act like this. I'm a dog lover, too. Putting our dogs down has always been the hardest fucking thing I've done in my life. I don't suggest it lightly.

But either way GET THAT DOG OUT OF YOUR HOUSE. Before something worse happens, something that can't be fixed.

I think it's time for a new vet with the space for medical boarding.

I am all for egalitarian decision making in marriage but you were actually injured badly enough to go to the ER. I am not saying your husband should therefore agree to kill your dog but at the very minimum he should agree to get the dog to medical boarding. What steps is he taking to compromise or is all the burden of the 50/50 on you? That's not compromise.
