Yeah, another Team Neighbor here. I would never yell at someone for this though and I do get that it's wholly within the dog owner's control. But show a little respect for someone's home, please. Especially in or near the city, where none of us have 1/4 acre yards. I see people letting their dogs run around and poop in my front yard as I stand cooking dinner and I just want to throw something at them.

My suspicion is that OP is among the dog owners who feel "their" dog doesn't need to be on a leash, is fine to walk free in the playground, that can surely come to the local elementary school when you pick up Larla, etc...

OP, I don't really get this either. It would never occur to me to be mad if a dog pooped in my yard as long as the owner immediately picked it up. I'm under no illusion that my yard is generally free of animal poop or other disgusting stuff. My dogs have pooped in other people's yards and they've watched it happen and waved to me as I was picking it up.

I think it's just one of those things where some people don't care and some people care a lot. The best course to follow is to just not let your dogs do it because you never know if people are going to be the type who care. As to your original question, next time you see the lady, just apologize, tell her you thought it was okay if you picked it up, but let her know it won't happen again.

I have a dog, too and don't let her poop on people's lawns.

I think it's reasonable to ask people not to let their dog poop in your main yard. Dog poop in those strips of grass by the sidewalk is okay, as long as owner picks it up. (Well, it's okay if the dog picks it up, too, but that's so not gonna happen.)

And I mean pp you've probably had a couple of insects in your house at some point (we've all seen a few), and chances are that spider has regurgitated something or ant pooped on your floor. Can I do it too?

I don't want my children (who I know are vaccinated and disease-free) exposed to a random dog's excrement, which can contain parasites and disease, which will linger even if you pick up the poop. Gross, gross, gross. You are uncouth. And gross.
