Yes, he majorly screwed up, but every time he makes a mistake he gets the worst possible forms of advice and "support" and he's been brought up so stuck inside this bubble that he can't even see it.
I used to think the Duggars were so wholesome and nice, just a little more wackadoo religious than I was comfortable with, but then I learned more about Quiverfull and Bill Gothard and how twisted their system really is and now it's just sickening. I hope some of those kids can get out of it.
I disagree. Lots of people grow up in distorted, very religious environments, and never end up molesting anyone, or cheating on their spouses, or being a complete hypocrite.
I'd feel more sympathy if he decided to live a private life after getting married, but Josh chose to be public. He chose to be work for what's essentially a hate-group. He chose to be a complete hypocrite in his public vs. personal life, and he chose to negatively affect the personal lives of others via laws & public policy in his hate-filled campaigns.
He has lived a very privileged, non-sheltered life. He has had the options to choose differently, since becoming an adult and leaving the Duggar compound. He knows he has other options (regarding choices, therapies, etc), but he's chosen differently. I don't think he's that naive.
I hope he moves forward and makes more compassionate & healthy choices in his life, but I don't feel sorry for Josh Duggar - much in the same way that I don't feel sorry for the Ted Haggards, Aaron Shocks, and other royal hypocrites of the world.

Well said.

The guy is a pig but I really hope he doesn't kill himself.
I hope not either. That would be truly tragic for his kids and I would completely blame his parents.
I already do blame them. I think they need to release a statement that says they are praying for guidance for how to parent and seek therapy.
I feel bad for Josh. I mean if he was a kid who grew up in a normal home with normal parents and a normal family, I would be more apt to just blame him.
But Josh has to feel like he tried so hard to do all the right things his parents told him - going to church, courtship and no kissing or hand holding, get married young, have a bunch of kids - would lead to happiness and then he still didn't find the happiness or fulfilled like he was supposed to. How soul crushing that must be for a young adult who really believed that he was going to be guaranteed lifelong happiness and then to not have that happen but to have absolutely no one to talk to about it. I am not surprised by what happens.
What would truly be great is if he did go to a real rehab and therapy center, moved Anna and the kids and him far away from any of their family and just tried to start over as a normal, regular family.
Didn't he hook up with a porn star at a casino?

Agreed. Killing himself wouldn't solve anything.
I'd hope he sought out REAL therapy and counseling, and learned to be a more compassionate, non-hypocritical asshole of a human being, and father. And I'd hope Anna moves on and finds a companion who doesn't value her solely for her vagina, uterus, cooking & cleaning skills.
oh, please, you know he didn't. he's not that self aware.
Realistically, you're probably right. But one can have a (very, very small) iota of hope that this gets turned into a positive somehow.
You are a horrible human being. Suicide is never a positive.
Read again. Carefully.
NP who read very carefully, I don't see anyone saying suicide is a positive, I think pp was saying that even though realistically it's probably true that Josh isn't self-aware enough to get real therapy and change, she has a small amount of hope that maybe he is.
Agreed. 21:41 is the one that needs to read carefully.
21:41 was saying that the "you are a horrible human being" poster was mistaken in thinking anyone was condoning suicide. Geez.
