Wilson not only high school with schedule problems last week. Ellington's were also a mess - same DCPS mandated software and contractor mailing as Wilson.

My DC's schedule arrived in the mail the second day of school. NOt sure why, but it was different than the schedule DC picked up on Saturday. The one on Saturday was correct.

Quick question - did the schedules ever arrive in the mail eventually? As a Wilson parent I would want to follow up on this subcontracting of schedule mailing (thats $ spent) and where those schedules ended up.

The on-line article is excellent. It makes me very proud of the Beacon journalism team. The students deserve a principal that is up to the task of leading this incredibly diverse, unique and talented school.

No horse in this race. And in all honesty I'm one of the people who chimes in occasionally to say that most of the Wilson posters are terribly judgmental people with too much time on their hands who will never give anyone a fair shot...and even I'm put off by this move. It feels like an effort of an administrator that is very unsure of herself and is overreaching to show how in control she is.

One of the points in the house ed is that by approving everything she's actually taking on more liability, not less. The concept in regulatory spaces is called "adoption". It means by reviewing it and commenting on it, and lord knows by approving it, you have made it your own. If you hadn't reviewed or approved it then it remains the responsibility of 3rd party that created it. Doesn't DCPS have a legal team that could help her with this?

Apparently students were handed this Beacon issue on their way out the door Friday and the word is OUT! I have 4 Wilson kids at my house right now and they all are taking about how this principal made such a poor impression with this move. They also all say there is yet to be any school assembly that makes them feel part of one community and that they have never seen her. Time to introduce herself, back off the Beacon and start fresh. She also needs to apologize for the messed up scheduling that has take up so much of the first week of school, whether she could have helped it or not. Do they not have he internet in Aspen? His is she so clueless about DCPS and in particular Wilson High??

Martin has had problems at every school she has worked. In Aspen the teachers had no confidence in her. Aspen for crumb's sake. How she got hired I'll never know and now this.
