I have NEVER in my life put my bag down on the floor in public. Not on a restroom floor, not on mass transit, not at work, not anywhere. On the occasion I wind up in a public bathroom that doesn't have a hook on the back of the door to hang my purse, I awkwardly hold it, or if the strap is long enough, I've hung it around my neck. Now that I think about it I don't even put my purse on the floor in my home. It either goes on the bench by the front door, hung on the railing, or on the top shelf in my closet.

Ugh to all of the above! "Didn't realize you could make the rules in my house." EXACTLY!

MIL and SIL just left today.

1. Going to the bathroom and then washing their hands in the kitchen. No, we don't have decorative towels. Just your typical Homegoods $5.99 ones.

2. Telling DS not to play with his toys outside of his playroom because he'll scratch the floors. Didn't realize you could make the rules in my house.

3. Telling me you were coming to visit in order to "help" (DH had recent medical issues) then waiting for meals to be served to you.

Why all the judgment or justification on a post that's meant to be "petty venting"? Just let people get it out! If you don't relate, just move on and don't say anything. It's better for people to say what bugs them here and get it off their chests than to react to small annoyances in real life.

Baby talk...yeah, that would get on my nerves. S&P...wouldn't bother me in the slightest; if she overdoes it (which I guess doesn't happen), then she'll learn to be careful. Coffee filter...just get the coffee ready the night before for her so there's no need to throw the filter out. Just a quirk.

Yuck. I would never do this on any furniture except for my own. I have never seen a man or grown woman sit like this. Just college girls.

I sit like this all the time on my own furniture. I'm really short and it's the only way I feel comfortable on most chairs and sofas. But I would not do this on someone else's furniture except in an extremely casual setting.

No, you're not crazy. I never set my purse or backpack on the floor (yuck!), but I never set my purse on the furniture or table either. I have a shelf by the door where my purse stays at all times when I'm not home. There are hooks on the back of the door for people to hang bags and backpacks and a basket for Dh to drop all of his stuff when he comes in after work. I always thought it was odd that my mom left her purse on the kitchen counter (but I never asked her about it.)

My MIL does this, every evening. She rubs her bare feet back and forth on my sofa. She is very critical of others' tidyness and organization, so it is odd that she things this is ok.

This is just a no-stakes place to let off steam. Vent away! It helps you react appropriately IRL.
