DH - in his mother's womb. Haha. Seriously though, he started ira's with his first summer job and 401k the moment he was eligible. I started when we got married.

22. I'm 48 now and contribute much more, but those first contributions are what earn the $$$ over time. Much easier. Even when you invest just a little. Invest something.

At 32, when I started as a fed, I have always maxed since then but I started late. At almost 19 years in I have about 600K.

Started at 22 with a 22k salary. It's been 12 years and I have 115k in it. Get the match. Anyone that doesn't take it is foolish. The way I looked at it, the market would have to drop by more than half before I lost any of my own money.
