I wish American humanitarian workers had a more realistic understanding of the dangers that they may face in the areas that they go to. If they still choose to go to these places, then they and we have to be prepared to deal with the consequences - which should not include putting other people's lives in danger to save them.

We've indulged ourselves critiquing western civ long enough. I'll take some civ over no civ any day.
Obama - the Teflon president. During election, there were Arab women in the Pakistani airport handing out fliers saying " A vote for Obama is a vote against the Great Satan".
Great, you let Pakistani women in an airport tell you what to think about your president.

OR... maybe being locked away in Guantanamo is one of the factors that helped lead him to become the insane, evil radical he is?
This is a pattern I have read about other Islamic radicals- even if they are not so extreme when they enter prison, the conditions they endure solidifies their violent views.
The foundation for their rage is laid in childhood.
WTF? We CREATED this entire nightmare. We invaded Iraq, removed all the Baathists, left a power vacuum, supported Malicki who is a huge sectarian scumball, and basically everything we did laid the groundwork for ISIS. If Al Baghdadi had been dead or imprisoned, some other psycho would be doing all of this instead. Don't you know ISIS is recruiting all the time?
This is OUR fault, and not for letting people out of Guantanamo. Torturing people and putting people in Guantanamo was just shitting on our own values as Americans, which is basically the icing on the cake in this whole situation.

Uh, hate to burst your bubble and the entire premise of your post, but he was not in Gitmo. He was detained in Iraq and released in 2004.
Forgive me. Obama shut down that camp in Iraq - he was not exactly a prisoner of another country - he was our prisoner of war.
In 2004?? Bush let this guy go, five years before Obama was inaugurated. What the hell kind of point are you making?
Date is in dispute my friend.

Isis did not exist before the Iraq war. It was invented becaus of the war.
And for the second time he was not locked up in gizmo. He was briefly detained by the army in Iraq and released in 2004.
There is dispute about the date. 2009 is more likely as boots on the ground place it there. Obama created ISIS by arming the 'moderate' Syrian rebels and thus putting weapons right in the hands of ISIS:

Haha, you are on the loony train. ISIS was initially created as Al Qaeda in Iraq. There is no dispute that this was years before Obama took office.

It's not about sex. It's not about "life." It's about power and control.

I'm all for charging alleged terrorists and giving them a trial, and if convicted, swiftly punishing them. That would be great.
But I find it deeply disturbing that you have such little understanding of why 'Guantanamo' exists in the first place. You can't have much respect for justice if you support such a concept. As an American, that precedent is pretty damn disturbing.
Prisoners of war. Different rules.
