Yes Carlisle is rough. When I was in school there was a KKK rally either in Carlisle or a neighboring town, can't remember which but I was horrified.

Nice school. I get the sense that PA colleges like Dickinson, F&M, Gettysburg, and Bucknell aren't quite on the same level as the NE schools. but are still solid.

Carlisle is a little rough. (Historic, but rough). There are other small PA schools in towns that are not so rough.

I think people may be confusing Dickinson in PA with Davidson in NC. Both are very over-priced preppy schools for rich kids who don't get into somewhere better.
