I first read this as "are families leaving Powell?" - wondering how things are going so far with the new principal.
I would say not so good based on what my neighbor has been telling me. Other than her being outside in the mornings giving high fives, she's been unresponsive to parents emails or request.
I went to the PTSA meeting last night, and she seemed pretty responsive to the things we were asking about.
Exactly, I want a follow up from the OP since she so anxiously jumped ship! Was it all that you wanted?Anonymous wrote:And how is West?

It's walkable from our house, the scores are better, it's more diverse, we want to meet other families in the neighborhood.

I wouldn't take advice from anyone on here unless they include their name and DCPS title.
Yeah, I get the risk of asking advice on DCUM, but I was really just looking for insight about the school. I wanted to try to get the kid enrolled so he can start in two weeks, husband wanted to wait and see what our options are via lottery next year. He reached out to people we know at the school and changed his mind since my original post last night.
We heard from the principal at West, who responded to my email in six minutes (big props), so we can enroll and start school before moving to our new house. Now it's just a matter of whether we can get into aftercare, because I won't be able to find a solution to that within the next two weeks. Waiting to hear if there's a wait list.
So you are going to enroll without even visiting the school? What's the rush?
