My boys have sneakers year round, plus snow boots in the winter and sandals in the summer.

1 pair sneakers
1 pair closed-toe sports sandals for summer

I think he has snow boots that will hopefully fit him from last year -- I tried to buy big and get 2 years out of them, since they only wear them a couple times for a few hours.
I've given up on dress shoes, and rain boots (they always leak anyway).
I did buy him water socks because we're going snorkeling on vacation and I thought he'd need them to walk through the rocks. I don't know if that counts as "shoes."

Snow boots and rain boots are a necessity for us because we walk to school.

10 year old boy

2 sneakers (one is dark/black)
1 snow boots ( one pair used for two years - I buy a bit larger than needed)
1 sandals
1 flip flop

I no longer buy rain boots. Black/dark sneakers are used in lieu of dress shoes as well as for daily use.

This is my 11 year old except I'll probably forget to buy him the snow boots.
