I am a middle schooler and I also have no idea what to do. I don't even know if I want to be friends with my crush or actually have a crush on them. My friends are assuming that i'm straight and I don't know what to do. I get you. You can't ignore the problem away. i read that you should not try to push yourself foward. OP, my child had similar experiences and was trying to sort these things out at about the same age. I learned later that what really helped at first was finding a best friend you could trust to talk about your questioning. Our DC was fortunate to find a friend like that, and then another, and another, and eventually was able to talk it about with us (OK -we prompted the discussion because it had become painfully obvious in high school that our DC was very different from the other kids in relevant ways). I am sure that you are not the only kid your age -- girl or boy - who is questioning some aspect of your sexuality other intimate aspect of your identify. If you aren't sure about whether your current best friends would be supportive, keep your eyes and ears open and you will probably be able to strike up a friendship with another student with similar questions. No adolescent comes to a parents' forum to feel validated. The OP's writing is very good. Mature, smart, well organized. Any 14-year-old who is advanced enough to write like this would also be insightful enough to know DCUM is not a safe place to seek validation. Anyone that smart and sophisticated would be able to Google much more promising resources, such as PFLAG.

On the off chance OP is a real child, look at PFLAG, GLSEN, or HRC's family project.

What, do you expect the kid to not know how to properly write? OP most likely came to DCUM to see what other parents in the area would think, since their own parent did not seem very accepting. OP knew they were speaking to an adult audience and probably tried to sound mature so we would take them seriously, since their parent obviously did not. Teens seek approval from adults, and OP seems to be looking for that too.

Some people are naturally sexually fluid and you may be one. There are terrific resources out there for you to explore and learn more. You sound mature and thoughtful. That you're considering these issues in an intellectual and reasonable way speaks volumes to your character.Be careful and believe in yourself!!

Or maybe lesbians have better sex and don't have to deal with a lot of the sexist crap from husbands that some of you straight DCUMs complain about. Once you get out of high school, the very minor annoyances of being a lesbian are no big deal. I think coming from a conservative family obviously would make it harder.
