OK, so it wasn't just me...

Mythbusters tested this one, and found that they could have both survived!

The whole movie was so cheesy that would have been the cherry on the sundae.

Absolutely agree. Such a ridiculous, sappy movie. I've never understood all the love it gets.

OP Here:

I never expected the huge amount of responses that I got, but am happily surprised. And not ONE snarky one in the bunch! Ha!!

Anyway, I like that a few of you brought up the line that Jack used on Rose, the one about her dying an old lady in a warm bed...I had totally forgot that.

So yes, I think she actually died, but I like the option of keeping the ending opened up to interpretation too.

I couldn't believe she tossed the necklace in. But I thought she died, too. And the movie was dumb, but my teenage self found it really sad being reminded of all those people who actually died when the Titanic sank.

You dont think she could have been exhausted after telling such an emotional and personal story? Like maybe she felt like her job, whatever she owed Jack- to tell his story, was over and now she could finally rest in peace?

Was he up for the role?

If it was a dream, she would not have thrown away the necklace. She knew she would die, in the same place as Jack Dawson did. North Atlantic ocean.

Colin Farrell would have been so much better as Jack.

I also thought she died and that her reuniting with Jack was basically heaven.

Embarrassing, but I still cry when I watch it even though the acting is terrible.

Actually, I always assumed that she died and it hadn't occurred to me she might have been dreaming. So, always opportunities to expand our thinking.
