Definitely. We just did this a few weeks ago. Jet Blue 7:30 flight. 2 and 4 year olds. They thought it was fun. It all works out.

Abso-frickin-lutely! Per person....maybe?

Of course. Leave house by 0530 every day. Military, can you tell?

Thanks all. We booked. It ended up more like $300 in savings because we were able to get 2 free flights (points) and one heavily discounted (credits.)

We feel like it is worth it, especially BC of traffic.

No. We pay extra to avoid those flights. If it was just me and DH, we might do it. With kids, no.... keeping everyone on a positive note is valuable to us.

I would, and my kids are 1 and 4 (and so there would be meltdowns).

But I'd do it because US Air has fucked us over multiple times, and JetBlue is a dream. Saving $200 would be icing on the cake!

I think I'd opt for leaving really early before rush hr and taking that earlier flight. You can always nap later at your destination -- kids will probably crash at some point anyway.

I take a 7am flight out of national several times per year. It is the easiest possible flight. There is no traffic getting to the airport and I have never had to stand in line for security.

I always do! You can sleep on the plane, and enjoy your vacation that much more with an extra $200!

Her kids are 5 and 8 years old...seriously sleep in travel clothes, worry about melt downs? If these are serious concerns at this age you should not be traveling at all.

YES I would save $200 rather have the extra money to spend when I get to my destination.

Of course! That's not that early.

That's the flight I would choose. Leaving the house at 5:30 is not that early. Maybe I had really easy kids (all five are high school/college now). None of them would have had a problem getting up early. Even when we travel by car, we are always on the road by 5am.

I can't understand why it would be an issue. Earlier flights are great because you avoid traffic and flight delays.

Plus, super early flights are least likely to be delayed since they're the first ones out.
My girls loved sleeping in their clothes and rolling out of bed to the car to the airport. Ate breakfast on the plane (which killed time and by then they were awake enough to be hungry).

100% yes. You and kids can nap on the flight if you're sleepy. It's $200 you can then use towards vacation - dining out, souvenirs, rental car etc.
