She's doing you a huge favor, and it adds to her hassle factor every morning and afternoon that she picks up and drops off your kids. Even if you are friends, you need to pay her what her time is worth. Look, she's saving you time in carpooling and driving in. That time is worth money to you (or should be).
Your kids are getting better, more personalized and caring service. If you paid a non-friend to do this, it would cost a lot more than $300 a month. Don't go cheap on this. And, yes, absolutely clearly late out what will happen in case of all contingencies so there are no surprises and no souring of the friendship.
If she is paying $300 and having to babysit she might as well just take the bus for the extra $90 a month.

If the school is 10 miles away, mileage would be $11.20 a week.
Add a flat fee of $10 a day, minus the one day you pick up, and that would be another $40 a week.
So $51.20 a week minimum. Adjust as you feel is fair.
She is driving to the school anyways since she teaches there, why are you paying her milage. The only consideration is payment for the inconvenience to her. I'd offer like $10 a week.

That fed rate does not cover the wear and tear that kids do to your car. Not even close.

Your math is wrong. 10 miles (20 round trip) - 11.20 per day (subtracting the one pick up) add in the $10 flat fee (minus the one day) is $90.40 a week.

Come on, would you really accept to take care of THREE kids on top of your for $40 a month..... I would need to have problem putting food on the table to do that.
I would do $150 if you bring the kids, $200 if she comes and pick them up
