Op here! Thanks for the Justice referral...we stopped today and got a few. I am not against her wearing a bra, I just don't think I realized how much more preferred a traditional bra style was to her over her current sports bras. I also agree with the PP that one day she could come down the stairs and have boobs so might as well be prepared! They had 28 AAA BTW for those looking in that size range!

I wouldn't go to Justice, isn't that a little young for a 12 year old? (i'm thinking 7/8th grader)
I'd go PINK - I know it's trashy, but you'll be there before you want to.
You can also do the department stores (macy, ect)
I know you don't want to spend Nordstom amount of money, but it would make it special.
We are way past the flat stage, but I love all the pretty things at Title9 and bounce. I always see pretty things they have for smaller girls.

Fruit of the loom and Hanes make ones that go over the head and are soft and stretchy, come in sizes for thinner girls and give coverage, but have the all important real adjustable straps. I am in the "buy your girl a bra if she wants one" school. However, I don't understand the idea that you have to wear a bra because your breast buds are showing. It's not as though a bra hides breast buds. Breast buds = bra seems to be the cultural expectation these days, but it wasn't like that in the late 1970s, at least not in my experience.

Yes. When everybody else is wearing a bra, absolutely yes.

I don't understand this "needing a bra" business. For most of my adult life, I have not "needed" a bra, except for running and sports. I wear one anyway. Why? Because it's the social convention. Nobody has ever said to me, "You're only an A cup, it's ridiculous for you to wear a bra, bras are only for people with breasts that need support, and nobody else should wear bras."
