Not surprising. Very few non-smokers will want to be involved with a smoker. Were I to hazard a guess I'd say it would be the most common deal breaker anywhere you'd ask. Who wants to kiss an ash tray? Blech.

I'd rather date a smoker than a vegan.

Typical DCUM. If we were all saying, oh I don't have any dealbreakers, I'll give all the druggie, felon, failed anger management, 3x divorced, chain smoking ladies and gents a try-you would say that we are pathetic losers with no standards. I'm recently divorced, I've learned some valuable lessons about the type of person I want to be with, and I'm happy to be single until I meet someone compatible who I really like.

Why are you picky about divorcees?

Too much baggage/drama. i'm married but these were my deal breakers when single. Plus, I wanted a church wedding, a sacrament to me. Harder to do with a divorcee.

Hey, you got your list and I have mine.

Man, this thread makes me appreciate my husband.

I didn't want a guy with:
Children
No career ambition (and that just meant gainfully employed and caring about it. He didn't have to be making crazy $$. I make my own).
Addiction/adultery/abuse issues
Religious or conservative

My husband has none of that, except he does have kids. I dropped that "dealbreaker" and very glad I did.

So it's great having standards, but if the right person comes along, it's ok to bend something here or there.
