I have a name and an address that could be thought of as vaguely African-American, even though I'm white.

I have felt very strongly that it's what got me in the door for an interview at a very liberal organization that I ended up working for for many years. (no, not the head of the NAACP chapter in Washington state!)

But I bet they had quite a shock when I showed up for the interview.

she means her hubby wants a list of all the names on the resumes that did not pass the first screening. as in, he's presumably checking for name discrimination.

My husband is hiring right now and he asked their receptionist to write out the names from the resumes that came in before he and his partner saw them.
