Boy I hope this is true. My child goes to a school like NCS and some of the teachers (especially in English and history) will not give any grades above a B or B+ almost as a matter of principle.
There are kids getting As from even the toughest graders. Just not everyone, and apparently not your child. A B/B+ grade at a rigorous school is nothing to be ashamed of, and it doesn't help your kids to just act as if nobody gets As and the system is rigged.
Ummm -- where did I say or suggest the system is rigged? And how do you know what's going on at my child's school?

I am certain that some of these kids have GPAs around 3.2 and are in at the very best schools.
this is absolutely not true
This is absolutely true, I know NCS extremely well... Just looking at the pure ivies plus stanford there is 1 stanford 1 brown 1 yale 4 dartmouth 5 cornell 4 penn 2 princeton... so it is 18 not 20, but 18 out of 78 to ivies. Then the "non ivy ivies" there are 4 at Amherst, 2 to Northwestern, I think the final UChiacgo was only 3 since students got off wait lists elsewhere and 5 at my last count to UVA, 2 to Davidson, 1 to Duke, 1 to Georgetown... so that is 33 of 78 to the very top schools if you count places like Davidson and Duke as very top.

I'm sending my daughters to a Big 3 because I know how hard it is to get into HPY and their chances are .01 while competing against the very best AROUND the WORLD. So rather than thinking about college I want to make sure they get a solid education every step of the way. Even if they end up at UVA with other public school students it doesn't matter. I provided them the best that I could and they're going to school with kids who will go to HPY. BTW, there are public school students at HPY too. If you have the money it's not a waste. Its only a waste if you buy a Birkin bag.

Anonymous wrote:DD just graduated. Foolish to turn down spot at NCS. Worth every dollar we spend. Poised, confident and as Rob Cary said at gradation there's no grade inflation. NCS is a serious place where grades are earned. My daughter had a 3.2 and was accepted into a great school. Her friends from other schools had much higher, weighted GPA's and didn't do as well.

But, I have been BLOWN AWAY by the teachers and curriculum of the NCS 4th grade teachers. With all due respect to Beauvoir, NCS raised the bar on every level... if your daughter has a problem with her homework, the teacher will meet her at 7:30 am which says a lot about the teacher that all the girls LOVE math, all of the girls have planners which they work with their teachers to plan their time management.
