OP, what exactly do you mean by best way? It sounds like you want some answer besides putting these schools on your lottery list every year.

Refer to other thread: Go to Murch. They clearly take OOB

I think Bancroft would could move to McFarland/Roosevelt track.

Boundary commission already floated having options to move Bancroft and Shepherd to new middle schools. Of course, those middle schools have to actually become a reality first.

Shepherd or Bancroft will be cut before Lafayette.

based on what? You can practically spit on Deal from Hearst. They are really close. Isn't Lafayette a greater distance from Deal than Hearst is?

Agree, I think it's really unlikely that Hearst will be moved out. More likely that Lafayette, Shepherd, or Bancroft would be.

Where would Lafayette go?

Not Deal.

My child goes to a JKLM Deal feeder and there is a child in her class (1st grade) who is OOB. Not sure if that child's older siblings go to the school. So it's possible but highly unlikely. Best bet is to move IB. Hoping for both continuing to live in Ward 6 AND get OOB into a JKLM Deal feeder is sort of like hoping to win the powerball - sure, someone will, but it's highly unlikely to be you and to plan your life around it is not a great idea.

We like our neighborhood and don't want to move, but we know that our DCPS middle school options are limited over here. We don't want to move, but would love for a children to attend Deal.

I live in Ward 6. My child attends a Deal feeder. We lotteried in for an older grade.

OP here again... Did you have to try year after year at the Deal Feeder? If so, which grade did you start?

Nope. Got in on our first try. Matched for our feeder and top 5 for our other choice for 4th grade.

In the boundary revisions, they made it clear that they are not going to do this.

^^ possibly -- this is why I don't subscribe to the move early plan. For example I'd hate to have purchased on the south side of Albermarle for Murch only to see it rezoned for Hearst. We'll suck it up and move when and if necessary

Really? I almost prefer the future of Hearst over Murch.
