I met a guy once who went to law school and medical school at the same time. He never went to his law school classes, but rather flew back to just take the exams. He's done rather well for himself over the years.

In any event, to achieve anywhere near the level of this kind of success, you have to be a machine - with no distractions.

What kind of physician are you? It's definitely possible, but not very probable. Those sort of jobs are only for the elite of the elite. Akin to winning the lottery.

We know radiologists, pain management, orthopaedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, spine surgeons and vascular surgeons who all make that much or more.

What specialty? Only surgeons who touch that cash are ortho/neuro/ent/Peds/spine surgeons. Most plastics don't.

ER/anesth/rads/Derm/GI/cards can all touch that. Graduate med school at 24/25, you could make 500 in ER (3 years), Derm (4 years), anesthesia (4 years), GI (6 years, if graduated 23 yo from med).

PP could very well be telling the truth. I'm a 33 yo MD who makes 600k per year in one of the above surgical or medical fields. I do this with 15 weeks off per year and 40 hours on average a week.

NP here. DH is a surgeon. He graduated 1 year early and went straight through, graduated college at 21, med school at 25, finished his surgical residency at 30 and fellowship at 31. He is now 35 and made $600k last year. He and his orthopod friends all make $500k+. DH was the youngest though at age 31. Several of his colleagues did get offers $500k+ right out of fellowship. DH only got a base of $300k. It takes at least a year to build up a practice, second year is breakeven and then by third year, you are earning.

If the 29yo doctor graduated high school early, has a late birthday and graduated college in 3 years, I do think it is possible for her DH to earn $500k. Don't know anyone who completed med school in less than 4 years though.
