There is nothing else to do there. Everyone goes to the beach or pool. It's too hot to play in the sand for longer than 15 min without getting in the water. It's Florida in June.

And your kid is okay with not going at all? She/he can wade, build sandcastles, take walks on the beach, collect seashells, etc. Get a cover for the cast. Is there a waterproof cast option? Ask DR.

I don't really think of a broken arm as an emergency. An inconvenience and unfortunate. But an emergency?

everyone's question. I don't think OP has really addressed this. Besides vacay is two weeks away - the kid will be super used to the cast by then. I would think the kid would be more disappointed not to go to the beach.

I think it will be the torture for the kid to be on the beach and not be able to go in the water. The house has a pool too.

So it's not fair for them to pay a refund, but it's OK for them to use our room if we don't go?



How would you know (or care) if your room is used. When you book with other families, you have to suck it up if emergencies happen. FWIW, if you had to cancel with a realtor, you would still pay the full price of the rental.

To the OP - they make cast covers or you can use press n' seal plastic wrap to cover the wrap up and still allow your child to go to the beach.

I would give you a refund if like, you had to go to a funeral or something. But your kid broke their arm? And like, a normal, everyday break? Not something catastrophic that requires surgery? Suck it up and go.

If I cancelled within two weeks of a planned vacation I would not expect a refund. I would tell the other families not to worry about a refund and its up to them how they handle that. That's the way it goes sometimes.
