Well, that was one person and he/she sounded like a moron. Janney had a principal from MoCo who was a disaster because she had no idea how to handle DCPS central office. Perhaps things are more functional downtown these days but it is a legitimate concern. If the principal has an experienced staff in place then these concerns can be mitigated.
It is hard going from a pretty functional central office to a dysfunctional, almost feudal one.
I'd love to know how the DCPS central office is, in your opinion, "dysfunctional" and "almost feudal". I work there. Can you give me some examples?

Right. And unless you somehow have knowledge that one of those 20 people is on this board, and they answer in a non-anonymous fashion, your question is stupid and unanswerable. That is my point.
Never mind that you thought the meeting hadn't happened yet, a question may be unanswerable, but not stupid. In any case, if we eliminated questions that someone thought were stupid, we wouldn't have any questions left. Also, if someone was at the meeting, I'm not sure why they couldn't answer anonymously.

Sounds like maybe she is still working on her dissertation. Good for her that she us still studying.
She also has a son who seems to be just about high school age. Wonder if he will go to wilson. I hope so, it will connect her more to the school.

Yes--important to clarify that this group is advisory only. But more than a formality: when our school hired its last principal, the advisory group rejected the first panel sent by the central office and got a second panel. So central office does listen to this group.

I would feel better if she were purshing her PhD in how to make education more rigorous rather than "urban education" -- whatever that is.

Will people understand selecting a principal is not done by voting...the panel is just a mere formality. The person who's selected has been vetted through the Chancellor and her team before being presented to the group.
