I'd only be annoyed that she's not truly helping, but spreading the problem by dropping the head. It will go to seed and a jillion more will spring up. If she wants to read, I'd tell her to do it the right way.

We had a neighbor walk into our yard once to pick an apple off of our tree and she took a bite out of it as she continued on her walk . It was a crab apple too...lol.

I can't imagine flying into a tizzy over someone picking a dandelion off of your yard as they walk past your house on a sunny day. Some things you just let slide ya know.

More serious than dandelions, or trees or bamboo, that's for damn sure.

I would call the cops and say you have a crazy person on your lawn; but then, you don't want to be the neighbor that always calls the cops, because then the cops will question your sanity.

Encouraged to go to Kinkos and get a yard sign made that says "Keep The F%k Off My Lawn"
Encouraged to take up smoking and flick cigarette butts on the neighbors yard
Encouraged to do all sorts of things...


I would not ignore it.

I'll never understand the fascination with lawns. It is a vestige of European gentry and wealth. We spend so much time and environmental damage on lawns in the United States, and with the possible water issues, particularly in the west, it is unfathomable.

Whether you want the dandelions there or not - it has nothing to do with her. It's your yard and she should stay out. What if, for some reason, you liked the dandelions and here she was pulling them? I'd be mighty irate.

"Off my lawn" - for sure. I would not be as kind as you if someone was doing something like that on my front lawn, OP.

Oh, gee. I would tell her she needn't bother, that you were just out of town. Maybe point out that pulling the flowers means the flower has to regrow before you can weed it and get the root!

But find a way to tell her she was out of line and not to do that again!

I see my own elderly parents getting crankier about these kinds of things. I advise letting it go. It gives the neighbor something to do. She's probably bored and lonely.
