My Mom calls, sends a little something in the mail. She lives in Europe.

My MIL usually sends me flowers that (through no fault of her own) are wilted. 2nd year in a row that I've gotten wilted flowers. ProFlowers.

I wish, but it's not like that.

From my MIL, who also gives me a present every year. She's such a sweetheart and I feel so lucky to have her.

This year was my first Mothers' Day and I got one card from my mom and one from my MIL. We will see if they keep it up for all the rest of my MD's, or if this was a one-time "Happy FIRST MD" type-thing.

MIL does. I think she does it specifically because she knows it wouldn't even occur to my step mother (my mom passed when I was a teenager), and she knows Mother's Day is a bit bitter-sweet for me.

My MIL & my Mom would have liked each other alot.

My mom gave me flowers on Sunday, from her garden. It was a nice gesture, but I wouldn't expect anything from either of them. My MIL sent a text on Friday. I wouldn't expect anything from either of them really.

Why is that annoying? She's trying to be nice!

There's nothing wrong with finding cutesy wording between adults annoying.
