Because I am am still trying to figure out what good reasons these PPs have to NOT tell parents. I'm curious the potential outcome for parents, other than, 'thank you for telling us our kids threw a party. We obviously did not give them persmission.'
My main reason would be that it would be negative socially for my own child. I would use this opportunity to help my child grow and gain trust in me and our relationship.

Not the quoted PP, but I know a few parents who would be less than thankful. A response of "How about you mind your own effing business?" comes to mind.

I am a parent but I also remember being a high school kid -- did you never attend a party at someone's house where there was alcohol and/or pot when you were in high school? And have you never gone to a party at a kid's house when the parents were out-of-town?! Come on - it was practically a right of passage when I was 16.
This is not the crime of the century.

I would strongly suggest being selfish and thinking of your own child before doing this.
I don't even know that it's being selfish to think of your own child in a situation like this. Drinking, driving, DUI or riding with a friend who is DUI, being at a drinking party with no adult supervision, etc.....that's a lot of ground to cover with your own kid in my own opinion.

NP here but actually I didn't attend any parties like that when I was in HS. Yeah, I was such an unpopular dork. Partied and dated like crazy in college though!
I did attend parties like this in HS back in the 80s. I'd have been mortally offended if anyone called me or anyone else a "deliquent". That word I associate with drop outs who deal drugs on the street corners of cities, not suburban kids in a well off neighborhood having a party ffs.
