The symptoms may have been silent but the infection would always be there from the time of infection if it is there now.

She didn't get it from a towel, she got it from unprotected sex from someone.

At least she didn't give you herpes or the aids

I had chlamydia once for probably a couple months before I was caught. Hard to tell when exactly I was infected.
It flared up after having sex with my new boyfriend after not having any symptoms for a while. Thought it was a bad uti but when I started peeing blood, they tested further and found it.

I believe she could have had it for a while. Though I think it's highly unlikely she got it from a towel.

OP, I have only heard of symptoms from a dormant infection appearing suddenly in the cases of Herpes, so while possible I do not have a straight answer. If you were to go to your doctor for treatment, would you feel comfortable asking them? they will not be able to guess when someone got infected but they might be able to answer your question

+1 Same here. Many gynecologists will automatically run the tests at every checkup. It's just a swab that's done along with the pap smear. The first couple of years, I didn't even know my doctor was testing me for STDs.

OP, you should take the meds now. If you feel for some reason that your relationship is "soiled" or that your GF is lying, then deal with that later.
