Can everyone stop making this stupid argument, please? Please find me one vegan blog or cite one vegan person that you know who refuses to BF because it's "milk from a mammal." Veganism generally is concerned with animal products because animals cannot consent to our using them. A BFing mother is consenting. A mother BFing her own child is not in tension at all with veganism.

Yeah, because newborn babies are chowing down on all of that stuff.

He did very well. He was breastfed (which mean vegan for me--how I missed my cheese!), and when he started solids, he was not picky at all. Avocado, beans, oatmeal. Calcium fortified foods. Everything covered in olive oil, and coconut milk as a drink--tons of fat in there. He did great.
By 2, the allergy to dairy passed, though he is still sensitive to eggs, so we added dairy in. But he was fine without it.
My point is children, babies especially, can be vegan and absolutely thrive, in spite of the strange straw man above trying to insist breastmilk isn't vegan. What is the point there, anyway?
Not the PP but breast milk isn't vegan. Look up what "vegan" means.
+ 1 If humans are animals (mammals) then the use of human breast milk cannot be, by definition, vegan.

I certainly hope that that's what the OP meant.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Is breastmilk vegan?
No. Breastmilk is NOT vegan and it has nothing to do with what the mother eats! Humans are mammals and breast milk is the milk from a mammal. That makes it absolutely NOT vegan.
Most vegans take issue with something coming from another animal like milk or an egg even if unfertilized.
Yes, humans are mammals, but most vegans wouldn't be opposed to animals feeding their own young.
It does not change the fact that human milk is NOT vegan.
Humans have the capacity to consent to the use of their milk. Breastmilk isn't comparable to other animal products.

We see Dr. Fusner in Kensington and have had no issues around our diet. I've found the whole practice to be very supportive. I'm not sure if she's taking new patients though.
Good luck OP!
Good luck!
Dr. Fusner's practice has sent notice that the practice is closing, but there's rumor of the practice being bought. Be sure to ask appropriate questions.
Seriously?! When were notices sent out? I don't think Ive seen anything yet.
