The real problem with Hardy is that basically every parent in Upper NW believes it is a shitty school and materially inferior to Deal. Therefore hardly anyone goes to Hardy, except OOB students whose regular middle school options are even shittier.

For the past few years Eaton students had the choice of Deal or Hardy, without going through thr lotto for Hardy. Central was hoping some Eaton families would choose Hardy over Deal but there were virtually no takers. Now DCPS is taking a more coercive approach.

This is great excellent and I have complete confidence in Pride's stewardship of the school. (That's a weird feeling to have in DCPS.)

Here are the numbers you are seeking:

Awarded spots at Hardy historically accept at an 80% rate.

Pride is targeting about 60-65 OB spots for 6th grade, and she has planned a 6th grade cohort of 130 kids (same as last year).

Last year feeder students (43) + IB not from feeders (2) + military (7) = 52

This year her projections (which tend to be quite accurate) is that feeder students + IB not from feeders + military will be about 65-70 (predicting an increase by 30-35% in feeder kids, i.e. 15-18 more).

The configurations he has in mind for next year 6th grade is thus:
60-65 OBs
65-70 feeder (+IB non from feeders + military kids).

This is a steady and realistic increase in feeder school enrollment from the past year.

She has a scientific mind, she's experienced and realistic.

And these are the numbers.
