The issue with modernizations and renovations is they seem to be done in a vacuum with zero coordination with any demographics. It's not rocket science. Just look at deal and Wilson. Deal was renovated for 300 a class and Wilson for 400 a class. Deal is not the only feeder and yet it would be sending almost enough students ( I do realize they don't all go) to almost fill Wilson. And then surprise! They are both way overcrowded. Where's the accountability? It just seems to continue where the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing.

It does? Per 15-16 feeder patterns it appears to be a feeder only for J.O Wilson, Ludlow Taylor and Peabody/Watkins.
I find all of the talk about "needing Brent" to be kind of funny. Brent wasn't Brent until a few years ago, and Maury wasn't Maury until a few years later than that. LT is projected to be all IB this year and JO is tracking that way (and has an amazing principal that I wouldn't bet against). With all due respect to the child geniuses and their PR staff at Brent, a betting man would bet on SH on the Hill.
PP here. For those who will ask, here's the feeder pattern cite. http://dcps.dc.gov/DCPS/Files/downloads/Learn-About-Schools/Enrollment/SY1516%20School%20Feeder%20Patterns.pdf
Hey SH booster, do you live in Ward 6 or in PG County? Seems to me that had you lived on the Hill you would know that 72% of JOW is OOB, while 79% of Watkins and LT are each OOB. Moreover, 83% of SH is OOB. In other words, a piece of paper settig forth feeder patterns tells you absolutely zilch. SH had the opportunity to be another Alice Deal but the Cluster/CHPSPO leadership and DCPS weren't supportive of a Brent or SWS feeder, and Tommy Wells conveniently took a powder. So Brent families find themselves relegated to Jefferson, which is almost 2 miles away, after having been thrown the bone of a EH co-feed for a couple of years. Yu probably are also unaware that the Cluster principal kade a push to entice Brent families to come to SH ny telling them --erroneously -- that they could transfer to Watkins at the end of SY. Guess what? We're more than happy to move onto Basis or Ltim and not look back. That's what the smart money is doing.

Exactly, Why don't we wait to see if the new Brookland Middle will actually hit at least 50% capacity before building yet another middle school in Ward 4. Lots of kids in lower ward 4 could be districted to Brookland. Sorry folks, but just because its new and shiny doesn't mean its good. Dunbar is brand new and academically and socially its a hot mess.

Anonymous wrote:PP must be new to DC. Ward 9 = PG County residence cheaters. You know, a big chunk of the offspring of old Barry constituency.
