We love Ruan Thai. I don't know if it's authentic but it beats every other place hands-down.
I've heard good things about Nava Thai but I didn't like it. Rude, indifferent service (as in ignoring our party when we came in and again after we were seated) and the food was so-so. I've had better a place near me that I know is lousy! Maybe they only serve the good stuff if you are Thai? That was the impression I got, anyway.

I might have been there on an off-day, but I really didn't think Thai X-ing was great at all (have traveled to Thailand a couple times, fwiw)

We ate at Duangrat in the fall. We liked it a lot, but now I am second-guessing myself - was that Thai-Thai or American-Thai? And how do I tell them apart next time?
I loved the regional dishes at Rabieng. It's been years. Is it still open? I agree that Thai Square ticks all your boxes OP.

OP, not for your husband's birthday, but if he likes authentic Asian food, you must try Thip Khao. It's tremendous.
