Don't stand under any balconies.

So OP, save the hand-wringing for when your kid actually gets in. You probably have nothing to worry about.

I just had that same experience--I have interviewed dozens over the years and so very few get in, and those are usually exceptional candidates who ALSO apply early decision. I am sure that is typical for many competitive schools these days.

Binge drinking, white privilege, misogyny . . . and mean girls -- Dartmouth: it just gets better and better!

Dear Poster...you are just caught up in the "Ivy"

I would be worried if it were my DD.

Son of a good friend left after his freshman year after pledging to one of the party frats, it was too much for him but thankfully he had the insight and maturity to recognize it. He knew quitting the fraternity was social suicide in such a small school so he transferred and is much happier at his new school.

This is utterly untrue. Unless this was decades ago. You have not been able to pledge a house until after your first year is over for decades. Rush is now sophomore fall, but for a while it was even pushed back to sophomore winter before you could rush.

I am not worried at all.

My niece is at Dartmouth and loves it. It is a great school and a beautiful campus.
