I agree. I get those cute little KB socks (or two letters) in white and black. Last for years! Much better than target socks.

I buy meats, pork, beef, organic chicken. I just vacuum seal and freeze it. Also buy, carrots, potatoes, for some reason we go through a bag about once a month. About every other month I buy onions and garlic; If I'm having company, I purchase the mixed green salad. organic eggs, orange juice and butter, low sodium bacon, hebrew national hotdogs, maple syrup, krustez buttermilk pancakes, spices, bounce dryer sheets, laundry detergent.

The organic ones ripen normally and aren't mealy. The regular ones are a hit or miss.

Onions. Half the bag is always rotten.

I love Costco, but here are three things I don't like to buy there:
1) prepared foods from refrigerated section (pizza, enchiladas, etc)--not good
2) simple appliances. They tend to only have one or two choices, usually high end. Not the place to buy a basic phone, alarm clock, vacuum, etc.
3) cakes and muffins, unless you have guests coming or 8 kids, its just waaay too much sugar

Costco is generally not cheaper than sales, but I hate trying to catch sales, so love that it's just always that price at costco. A general rule of thumb is, the more expensive it is, the smaller the quantity is. So blackberries, organic eggs, gourmet sauces, etc. are all very reAsonable quantities.

The kirland toilet paper sheds everywhere and is very irritating. The paper towels seem to be fine so we buy those.

Sorry have to agree with the other poster, the Kirkland fake a Dove soap is the absolute worst. The scent is overbearing and lingers long after the shower.

OP, one of the best things about Costco is it is easy to return a product if it doesn't work for you.

Bananas. They don't ripen properly and get all mealy.

Diapers and wipes and pull ups are cheaper at target, especially with. Pupils and store brands.


Found that cascade dishwasher detergent was cheaper at target with a coupon.

Barilla pasta - usually on sLe for less per box at giant - especially if you have a coupon

Canned goods are sometimes cheaper at chain store

Their cat litter in the green plastic bin is terrible. Doesn't clump well and gets smelly in no time.

Funny, my husband, who has really sensitive skin loves it. He thinks the quality is much better than Dove.

If the main question is about savings, the main thing I would say is that a lot of stuff that we used to think was cheaper at Costco isn't, unless you are really dedicated to a certain brand--mainly, pasta, cereal, diapers/pull-ups--a lot of that stuff you can get for less if you can catch a good sale at the grocery store or Target.

Like others have said, the produce can seem like a great deal but sometimes is not great quality and/or just too much. We have gotten a ton of fresh spinach and used about 1/3 then steamed the rest to freeze, but in general, I think it's not so cheap or such amazing quality that I would do this all the time.

The stuff I think is a good deal--bread, coffee, nuts, spices/cooking staples, paper products.

Bread freezes and thaws quite nicely. We always freeze half.

Paper products. Have those delivered from Amazon.
They take up too much space in the cart and the car and they are not cheaper at costco than amazon or even a good deal in the grocery store.

There are only two of us so I don't by much produce there other than apples or grapes since these last longer than say strawberries or bananas.

Also don't buy the croissants unless you want to eat all 12 in 4 days. Every time I buy them I have to fight the urge to have one as a part of every meal!
