Since PP didn't know how to spell Kalorama correctly, forgive me if I don't view the hyper-ventilating about the "staff" as dispositive on what passes for "prestigious" in these parts.

Staff does not necessarily involve pretense, especially if discretely and professionally employed. Ironically, I think the staff being mentioned by the pp involve security personnel who are definitely NOT about "showing off." In fact, it is just the opposite. Now the cat with the 40-60 hockey rink, not so sure there

There are a couple of blocks in wesley heights were all the residents have live in staff of 2-5 people. All of them. And these are not the embassy type folks that dominate kalarama. You don't find that in many places.

I live in Kent, but would put Mass Avenue Heights, West Kalorama, and parts of East Georgetown, as well as selected areas of Wesley Heights in the I have arrived category. Most of the houses in Spring Valley, Kent, Cleveland Park and Chevy Chase are nice upper middle class stock and Foxhall Crescent says new money.

A lot of Gtown is actually:
-small fairly cheap (relatively) row houses
- old money that is running dry but trying desperately to keep up appearances.
With the exception of true mansions there, the real $ is elsewhere. See kent, Wesley hts, etc
