Who wants all of those National chains that make every town "anywhere USA." Bethesda needs to keep the local businesses unless it wants to become Rockville Pike. Sad.

soon bethesda will look like rockville, gaithersburg, germantown etc. there will be a ben & jerry's, rio grande, buffalo wild wings, elevation burger/five guys, chipotle on every corner. federal realty has not built up the area, they have ruined it, IMHO.

+1 so sad
Uncle Julio's used to be known as Rio Grande.

It was still part of the same chain then, though.

Rio Grande has been in Bethesda for more than 20 years, maybe 25 at this point. It was either the first or second rio grande. It used to be on Cordell. In the early days it was quite the novelty. 25 years ago there wasn't much, if any, TexMex here.

Is it true that Williams Sonoma and Pottery Barn are moving in? If so, so sad. Neither Parkers nor Tara Thai were anything to get excited about but I can only hope the other side of Bethesda holds out.

Both were gross. I don't know if we need Williams Sonoma, but the eh food in Bethesda continues.

Yes, I am sad to see them go solely from a nostalgia perspective. Not sure if they were actually good back in the 90s or if I just didn't know better as a teen.

I think it was good? But it was many years ago. Haven't been in a decade at least.

I use to like their crispy fish, about a decade ago. Haven't even walked over to that area in about 10 years.

I'm amazed Parkers held on this long.

Tara Thai has truly gone downhill. Never been to Parkers.
