The PP wins with that horrid injury. My broken elbow seems like a minor injury compared to losing a scrotum.

We have had one since our kids where little. Our 18yo still uses it. We also have a zipline, a treehouse, a halfpipe, a slackline and a pool with a diving board.

We've had one for over 15 years (more than one). Everyone loves it. No broken bones.

Everyone here is arguing about the relative safety of a trampoline. You need to focus on the liability. Unless you never ever allow anyone but your children on there, then you do need to talk to your insurer. It they won't cover trampoline accident you could end up in a real mess...

We have a top-quality one as far as safety ratings go and we only allow one child at a time. I am not embarrassed to yell out in the yard if I see more than two inside the net. Most accidents are caused by: lack of a net, uncovered springs, and more than one person inside the bouncy area. How those trampoline recreation facilities manage to stay in business is beyond me. I have seen toddlers walk straight across trampolines while a much larger kid was doing a back hand spring.

I lot of families in my neighborhood (Del Ray Alexandria) have them. Supervise appropriately and it's no more risky than bike riding etc. They're so fun and great for burning off energy - you know yourself and your kids and if you can all make sure its used in a safe way

My DD's orthopedist said monkey bars and trampolines keep her in business.

My DD got a broken ankle during a bus fire drill. When the kid behind her jumped out of the bus he landed on her leg/ankle. That was fun. Just goes to show things can happen anywhere and you cant go through life avoiding the inevitable. You may as well then live in a bubble!!
