I might have just smiled at her and said thanks.

Or.. been horrified and asked "What the HELL are you doing?"

Weird and creepy!

No this really happened--she is a control freak which is why I took issue with her doing it right in front of me. She is very territorial of her son so I guess I felt like she was doing it to sow me she is still the boss and in control. When I asked my husband about it he said he didn't even think of reacting but yes he thought it was weird. She is an attractive women who dresses at times too young for her age and who is having a very hard time with aging. Glad to know that I wasn't just being hard on her. My husband tends to be defensive and deflect blame or weirdness on to me. Guess you all can gather that I don't like mu mother in law very much! We have three children and she refuses to call me to see how they are just calls DH. She so passive aggressive. It's strange because when we are together we actually have a pretty pleasant time--not with standing the investable underhanded compliment or the slight that I only realize after the fact.

OP, I think you're both freaks. You are waaaaay over interpreting a silly thing she did. WTF does your husband going around with his fly open is the bigger issue. Learn to let go. Sadly, I think your DH married his mom.

He probably just used the bathroom and got distracted before zipping his pants up.

Seriously, could it be a mom reflex? I will not read too much into it. In fact, I would have ignored it. Does your DH usually leaves his pants unzipped?

Agree! The reactions from posters on this subject strikes me as bizarre.

Not having a reaction is what is bizarre. Do you have any sons? How old? I have a big, manly teenager and the thought of doing anything other than a quiet "your fly is down", is just beyond the pale. Those motherly reflexes just come to a natural end when children grow up. Long before full adulthood. Major boundary weirdness there.

So in that vein, should it be ok for my dad to readjust my breasts in my bra? I think not.

Oh me oh no, that is not okay! Who is seriously comparing this to tucking in a tag?

Maybe there's some cultural thing here, where the moms have no boundaries about physical stuff? I wouldn't dream of zipping a son's zipper if he's above preschool age.

It sounds like emotional incest. How long have you been married Op? Go read about it and see if it is affecting yor marriage. Your dh's non reaction is an issue. Your mil sounds like a nightmare. I would try to keep a large distance from her and avoid visits.

Anyone who thinks this is ok behavior has problems.

No, but what if he tucked in the tag at the back of your shirt? More intimate than you'd want a stranger doing, but not creepy in itself.

I think a parent tucking in a tag is fundamentally different than zipping a fly. I wouldn't bat an eye if DH's mom tucked in his tag.

I agree tucking in a tag in a shirt is different. But what if her dad zipped up her zipper on her pants. I would think it was really odd if I saw a friends dad do it to her.

What what WHAT? I thought you meant the MIL zipped HER husband's zipper right in front of you, which would be weird enough. She zipped YOUR husband's zipper?!?!?! WHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT.

Did you talk about it afterward with your husband?

My MIL is a time-release bitch too. I just don't talk to her anymore except about the world's most bland topics.
