LOL! Probably wouldn't care as much now Russia should've said something a while ago when Crimea voted to break off and go as part of Ukraine. I know, they weren't in a place to do so. But, it's not right that years later they come back and forcibly try to take it.

but whether or not it was legal or not, the North decided they didn't agree, and used military arms and hundreds of thousands of lives, to show they disagreed. You disagree with Crimea being annexed by Russia (so you don't ALWAYS agree with self-determination), what are you prepared to do about it?

that is ok. the Mongols were clearly the most powerful thing going then. Might makes right unless there is an opposing organized party that is (1) strong enough to fight back and (2) has the political will to fight back and (3) is in the opposing party's interests to fight back. 2 of the 3 are missing here.

Yes, Russia is a screwed up state with a bad economy and horrible demographics. But it also is the largest country in the world, an ex superpower, and has 140 million people and lots of nukes. We need to respect them if possible.

Definitely not worth picking a battle over Ukraine.

Finland or the Baltic States - different issues 100%. So the only reason I would change my mind would be if caving on the Ukraine meant more issues down the road.
