+1. I don't remake the guest bed, though. I just put the sheets away and pull the coverlet over the top of the bed so it looks made. Otherwise, if there's a gap of a few months, the sheets might get a little musty.

OP's IL's basically invited themselves to her house. In fact, they didn't even go through the formality of inviting themselves, they just showed up.

Does nobody else see a problem here? FWIW, SIL and BIL often invite themselves to stay at our place and then they refuse to lift a finger. I feel like I have no choice in whether I want to play Housemaid during my few precious days of annual leave.

I think OP is a loon, but I always strip the bad, and so do our guests. You remake the bed with what's left and lesv ed the dirty sheet so folded 9th the bed, sort of like a PP leaves the dirty towels in a folded pile in the bathroom.

I am polite as fuck, and honestly, it never occurred to me to strip the guest sheets until I met my husband and learned he did.

Even then, it seems a little out of bounds to do at most homes when you don't know where to put them or if they want to make the bed now or later. So I typically just remake the bed and put my used towels in a neat stack in the bathroom.

Not OP, not Asian, and I always strip my bed after being an overnight guest in someone's home. I also ask the hostess if she prefers me to start a laundry load with the sheets I just took from my bed or to drop them in a laundry basket for her to deal with later. I also gather any towels that were provided to me together with the bed sheets. To me, it's basic courtesy.

To this date, I was never told "Please, do start a laundry load". I was always thanked for taking care of that chore and told it was ok to just leave the whole bundle on the mattress and that it would be laundered later.

We always strip the bed at my parents and in-laws house. We also gather up the dirty towels too and put them near the washer (or wherever they want them left). At my house I'd never want to leave dirty sheets on a guest bed and have it remade. I'd prefer it be stripped (or I strip it) and wash them soon after guests leave and then put them back on for next time someone visits.

There was a thread titled "rude guest" or something recently by a crazy woman lamenting that her visiting 18 year old brother did not fold the cloth napkins after dinner; that he had let her husband inflate the bed instead of doing it himself; that he had parked his suitcase in a different spot from where she had told him to put it... and this poor young man was therefore RUDE.

I ask the host what he/she prefers. Some prefer the bed be stripped because they launder/remake the bed right away. MOST prefer that the bed just be made back up. And they will freshly launder the sheets right before the next guest arrives.
