I would go somewhere with no time change just to maximize time. Probably Carribbean at the nicest resort I could find if budget was no issue.

4 days in NOLA? No thanks. Disgustingly dirty.

Belize. Especially if you're adventurous . You could stick to the cayes or go to caves inland.

We went to Taos for four days without kids and it was fantastic. I would not want to use up too much time on travel or coping with jet lag.

See, this is where different strokes fits in - 4 days with nothing but beach sounds AWFUL to me.

Personally I'd probably do wine country, or a 'too much for little kids' outdoor focused trip, but that's what appeals to me.

I would go to NYC or New Orleans... or maybe Savannah because I haven't been.

Hm - 4 days is really not a lot of time. Flights to Morocco are about the same as to Paris. Casablanca, while not as interesting as Fez or Marrakesh, is a pretty fun and dynamic city, and enough for 4 days entertainment. With a day or 2 longer though, I'd head to Essouira. Funky beach town that used to be a favorite of Bianca Jagger and that type. I think Morocco is still relatively safe from the terror assholes, though who knows these days...

I think you'd want a nonstop flight.

Awww - it's so cute that you correct everyone every time about this. Almost like you think it's important or something.

No kids? May? Sonoma, CA - wine country. Less commercial than Napa. Very relaxing. Lots of fun. Great getaway for a couple of days. Take at least one tour (limo/bus picks you up and drives you to wineries that have stuff going on that day - so you can experience each step of the process) or you could hire a personal driver.

Sorry -- the time of year question is a good one. We'd likely go in May.

As for what to do, we're pretty open. We've done both cities and beach, foreign and domestic. We haven't done too much nature-y stuff, but if it was a cool trip, I'd consider almost anything (although I'd like to to be the sort of trip that we wouldn't take the kids on, at least for several years). That's sort of what we're struggling with. So I'm interested in the full gamut of ideas -- destination, resorts/hotels, activities, etc.

I was going to say skiing in Aspen but May is too late. If you reconsider and want to go in March, do that!

May, NYC would be fun and so easy.
