This is your perspective. It's fine - it's an orthodox Sunni one, but it does not reflect the attitudes, habits, or "supposed to" ideologies of all Muslims.

It's the most common way for sure. I'm curious why this seems to upset you.

He is the poster always bringing up the Shias and Saudis into every conversation. He/She is obsessed lol

Huh? I'm the poster who always brings up the Shias/Saudis, and this is my second contribution to this discussion after the Kadyrov post.

But nice to know you have superhuman powers to recognize anonymous posters. Also nice to know that you have entirely too human qualities of trying to label people who disagree with you.

You can combine prayers to 3 times a day. This view isn't universally shared but there are some religious opinions in support of it.

This reminds me of an unintentionally funny episode featuring Mr. Ramzan Kadyrov, the ruler of Chechnya. As is the case with most Chechens, Kadyrov will claim to be an ardent Muslim without knowing very much about what his religion requires of him.

Reporter: "So are you a devout Muslim?"

Kadyrov: "Of course I am! All my family are devout Muslims. We lead a clean life, give charity, read the Quran, pray three times a day..."

Reporter, timidly: "Aren't devout Muslims supposed to pray five times a day, not three?"

Kadyrov, temporarily confused but quickly recovering due to natural aplomb, slapping the reporter on the shoulder: "The more, the better, brother! The more, the better!"

Please forgive a tangent: Having read a discussion with several posts by Muslima, I came to the bottom of the page and found an ad for Muslima.com. I thought our Muslima had started her own website, but it turned out to be a Muslim match-making site. Is there any connection?

Huh? Truthfully, I have no idea who that person even is. Feel free to follow up with Jeff. I just came across this conversation in "Recent Topics," and just get irked when one Muslim from one perspective claims to speak for all. Share your upbringing, perspective, and opinion - that's great. But as I'm sure you know, there are some very wide and very varying positions of Muslims the world over.

This is not one of them!

Return to your studies - not just of orthodox Sunni schools of thought, my dear sister.
