If you add Columbia to this list then GDS had 30

If the OP is an actual parent, I would say that a better question to ask is what school is the best fit for your child. Among the most selective Washington area privates, pretty much all the students come from families with high expectations and the students set really high standards for themselves. I don't have any doubt my DC will go on to a highly selective college. But, I want DC to have time to be a teenager, experience life, and grow emotionally. That means I don't want DC doing homework until midnight every day just for the sake of doing homework.
This! I'm not sure you want to throw the name of your child's school out there but I'd love to know. I'm frustrated with our search. I want DC to get a good education but to have the time to enjoy his youth!

It is just not useful to focus on gradations of academic strength among these schools. In any given year, the % of NMSFs or kids going to HYPS and other top schools is going to fluctuate at each school, but all are very good, and the point is to be around sufficient other academically-motivated and talented kids particularly in high school so that the course offerings and peer-stimulation will be optimal for even the most academically-talented kid.
Yes it depends on how many legacies and siblings are in a class. They lower the average of the kids that were accepted because they truly should be there.
Just plain ignorant
but true
