If I walk into someone's house and see a big, beautiful flower arrangement from afar I assume it's real if the house/owner appear tasteful, but I would probably assume it's fake if the decor and/or owner are cheap or tacky looking. Same applies to jewelry. If you're wearing clothes that are not of good quality people will probably assume the same of your ring.

That's funny; I think I'd be MORE inclined to think that the ring was real under those circumstances.

Me too! Not until this thread did I think about an aquintainance who wore a HUGE diamond engagement ring to a party- it was Im sure way bigger than any other women there and i rememberwondering how she had all that money- but i havenever seen her wear it since. i'd assumed she just thought itwasn't appropriate in that crowd or felt self-conscious, but maybe it was fake! hadn't occured to me.

If you were wearing one of those rings (qvc is crap, btw) and you were dressed sloppily with cheap shoes and a cheap purse then, yes, I'd think it was fake.

My ring is inherited with a huge flaw but it was my great grandmothers so I am attached to it. My husband offered me a new one but I do not care so he got me a nice band to go with my rings in my child's birthstone. I would go real snd get a more affordable gem if big is important.

I'm with you OP. I love large and flashy ring. I would get it in cubic zirconia if I can find a jeweler who can set it on white gold setting. It is still way cheaper than the real thing.

The ideal ring will be stylish yet practical... setting is low so it will not snags clothes, or not slide dowm to the sides of finger.

So much judgement! It's DCUM. I have a large engagement ring, but the diamond was inherited - I'm not high-maintenance. Even if my husband had bought it, why would it mean anything? Why does any of it mean anything?

I've bought Diamonique from QVC in the past and it's really nice quality for the price. It lasts and does not go cloudy or scratch. They will replace it at any time if it fails. I had a stone fall out of a ring after years and they replaced it for free.


I'm sorry, but those rings are really tacky. They look like something an old woman would wear.

Those three stone engagement rings are out of style.

I hate rings (on me). Won't wear one. When I see a HUGE ring on someone my first though would probably be "high maintenance woman".
