Some type of “light” beer - Coors light, Miller light (when I drink beer, this is what I drink)
Corona
Blue Moon
Stella Artois

Great variety here

My young adults recommended Blue Moon pale ale plus corona with lime on the side when we had people over. Or just blue moon. Even beer afficiondos drink the blue moon. There are now beer snobs just like wine sniffers.

No beer snob likes blue moon. It is a first macro brew and fine party brew. But good beer it is not.

I love good craft beers but often buy large quantities for parties. I always get some piss beer like miller lite but I also try to get good substitutes like Sam light. Amstel is also decent crap beer. Apologies to my pa brethren but yuengling is the worst. Would rather serve skunk Heineken.

From there you go light to dark - a wheat beer is good, and then an ale (dogfish is a good local but heavy seas works also.) I wouldn't do an ipa or porter - too heavy. Maybe a brown ale. Something fresh and seasonal. Sierra Nevada recently opened its NC brewery so their stuff here is fresh.

If you are providing beer, at least get GOOD beer. No major brands. The only major brand I would consider is Sam Adams. But I would go with a variety. Maybe get a variety pack of something localish?

All depends on the crowd...we hosted our first big party a couple months ago, also not beer drinkers, so I got a couple different brands, mainly Sam Adams and Corona. The Corona went fast, Sam Adams barely touched. I won't buy that again!

Yuck. I love lagers and I hate, hate, hate ales and porters. I would be so unhappy if all you had were microbrew ales and porters. I don't care how much they cost!
