This man is not causing a disturbance so my first instinct would be to just ignore it. If you get a feeling of him casing the homes, then maybe you can take a step further. In the meantime, take down his license plate so that in case he is up to no good, you have a record of who he is/his car.

Most likely, he is just hanging out in safe neighborhood to rest in his car where he feels like he can park his car without getting mugged.

My former next door neighbors didn't secure their wifi, which worked great for me because ours was always going down. When I casually mentioned it to them, they didn't see any reason to secure it. And they were both lawyers!

I guarantee that's what's happening here. Try it yourself, OP. Go stand where the taxi parks and see if an unsecured wifi connection is available.

This. A friend of mine with many children wondered about the single guy hanging out in front of her house in his car at all hours, until one of her more tech savvy kids secured the wireless and labeled the connection FBI, lol.

That's odd. I have the same issue. I live near Silver Spring, on an out-of-the-way street that's pretty secluded. Only 2 houses on our stretch, and very little traffic. This one taxi driver parks in front of our house fairly often for 2-3 hour stretches. He just sits there and texts on his phone. I think he's parked there because there are no parking permit signs on our stretch. He's technically parked illegally and sometimes blocks my driveway. I hadn't thought to call the police, but it's both annoying and unnerving. He's probably just harmlessly wasting time, but it feels like he's staking out my house.

I wouldn't like it, but legally there is nothing you can do about it.

When you look at the driver -- what is he doing? Does he seem like he's scoping the neighborhood or is he checked out or sleeping? Somehow if he's been doing this for over a month and he hasn't done anything to harm anyone -- I'm thinking he's just using your street for breaks. What kind of criminal would park a very noticeable car in the same spot for months and then go commit a crime -- it would be too easy for someone to ID the car and someone may even have a license plate by then.

One time a huge long truck parked in front of our house overnight. It left the next morning, so I guess he was just sleeping. Taxi is probably doing the same.
